It has been confirmed that Leanne Davies, Founder and Creator of leading online running community Run Mummy Run, has been recognised on The Lucozade Sport Movers List 2019.
The UK’s very first Movers List launched on Wednesday 4th September and aims to recognise 50 individuals whose volunteering, charity work or dedication to sport and exercise inspires local communities to move more.
The list, compiled by Lucozade Sport and judged by sports experts and stars including heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua and England Lioness footballer Nikita Parris, highlights the amateur sportspeople who are helping the UK to get more active.
The Movers List is released alongside new research from Lucozade Sport that shows 75% of people have made a conscious effort to exercise more regularly and for longer in the past year. The reasons for exercising are no longer to simply keep fit, with many now taking up an activity to improve their mental health and wellbeing, reduce stress, meet new people and do social good.
The research also highlights that people are more likely to stick to regular sport if they are part of a group, as opposed to being on their own, and so the list hopes to inspire people to find their own community and move more.
Leanne Davies set up Run Mummy Run over six years ago to create a network of like-minded women who loved running and wanted to talk about it. The community now boasts over 62,000 members and is known for offering immense support and kindness to females of all running abilities.
Run Mummy Run also has its own successful online clothing store and members can be spotted at events and races all over the UK and abroad wearing the brightly coloured kit. Leanne co-authored the first Run Mummy Run book, ‘Run Mummy Run: Inspiring Women to be Fit, Healthy and Happy’ and continues to be a huge inspiration to females across the country through her personal social media channels, where she documents her running journey and the balancing of home and work life. She is regularly invited to speak at conferences and events where she inspires other women to be true to themselves and follow their dreams.
A dedicated Movers List channel has been published by The Independent and the list is available at Lucozade Sport, where people can also search facilities to challenge themselves with a new sport.
Between September 2019 and February 2020, Lucozade Sport will be profiling images of each Mover individually on their social media channels and talking to relevant media about their stories.
The date for Leanne’s individual profile will be confirmed shortly.
Leanne Davies, Founder and Creator of Run Mummy Run, commented, “I am thrilled and honoured to be included on The Lucozade Sport Movers List and can’t wait to see the campaign evolve over the next few months. It is great motivation for people to get active and enjoy the many benefits that an active lifestyle can bring. I will be sharing my involvement in the project on my social media channels and am looking forward to discussing the aims of the project as well as what I have personally gained from it. Many thanks to Lucozade Sport for recognising me and the work Run Mummy Run is doing.”
Rebecca Richardson, Director of Breathe Unity PR, added, “We are proud to have been working with Leanne and Run Mummy Run for a number of years. We are delighted for Leanne that she has been selected to be part of The Lucozade Sport Movers List 2019 and we are looking forward to supporting her and Run Mummy Run as the campaign gathers momentum this autumn. Leanne has worked incredibly hard to get to where she is today, motivating females of all abilities to embrace running and achieve their individual goals. She is fully deserving of this recognition of her contribution in helping to get the UK more active.”
