We wanted to update you with a little news about some changes at Run Mummy Run regarding our online shop. You’ve probably noticed that we’ve not released any new kit for a while, and we’re sad to say that we won’t be producing any more in the future. We know that this will be very disappointing for many of you, so we want to be transparent about the reasons why we’ve made this decision.
When we first started our shop, it was in response to so many of our wonderful women requesting a design that would show off the fact they were part of Run Mummy Run. Seeing members of our community embracing our kit designs, and getting an #RMRSpot at races and events was, and still is, a real highlight for us as a team. Every time we released something new, we would sell out so quickly – we literally couldn’t keep up with the demand! It was incredibly exciting, and we had the best time coming up with new ideas.
However, things have been really hard for the shop since Covid. The shop was closed for a period during the pandemic, and when we came out the other side, things had changed. The cost of living has risen massively, meaning that sales are down (for all small businesses, not just us). At the same time, the cost of materials, production, storage and fulfilment have all risen beyond what’s affordable for a small business. There’s also a lot more competition, and some wonderful female-led brands doing great things in the women’s running kit space.
We made a commitment with our shop that we’d always offer good-quality, size-inclusive running kit designed for women. Sustainability is at our core, which is why we’ve moved to using recycled materials, minimal packaging and small print runs. We refuse to compromise on our values or sustainability ethos to produce cheaper or lower-quality kit in limited sizes. If we can’t do it right, then we don’t want to do it at all – that’s not fair to you.
We’re launching a massive summer clearance sale, which will run from 8th July to 31st August, with everything at the lowest price possible. Now is your last chance to own a little piece of Run Mummy Run heritage and everything must go! The online shop will then be closed, and any remaining stock will be responsibly and sustainably redistributed and donated.
Please note that this only relates to our community kit; the Run Mummy Run Community Run Club kit will remain available to members, and Shokz headphones will also still be available.
There are many small retail outlets in the same position of having to close, and we feel for all of them as we know how much time, effort, heart and soul goes into each and every design. We are fortunate that the shop is only a part of what we do. We have our incredible community of women and we have one of the most supportive running clubs around. We want to pour all our energy into supporting women, doing what we do best.
